Howdy

Welcome to the University Libraries' CHEM 228 class guide. This guide brings together biographical resources for those writing papers. If you need help, our Help webpage has FAQs and ways to get in touch with us via chat, email, text, and phone. Feel free to schedule a research consultation for additional assistance.

Biographical Sources

For biographical information about chemists, try some of these standard print and online sources. If the chemist is listed, these sources typically provide a few pages of biographical information and often a list of other sources for additional information (e.g., books, magazine articles, etc.).

There are entire books (autobiographies and biographies) on some of the more well-known chemists. To locate books at the University Libraries, conduct a keyword or subject search using the chemist's name in the Libraries Catalog. Most of the biographies of chemists are shelved under call numbers QD21-QD22 on the 4th Floor of Evans Library.

To search and locate books not owned by the University Libraries (or request to borrow another copy), use WorldCat. If you find a book not owned by the University Libraries, you can request through our Get It For Me service. It will take about a week for the book to arrive.

There are numerous websites containing biographical information. Below are a few.
