Are you registered to vote in Texas?
Check your registration status via the "My Voter Portal" on the Texas Secretary of State website. To check if you're registered you'll need one of the following three groups of information to log in:
Texas Driver's license number and date of birth, OR
Your first and last names, date of birth, the county and zip code you reside in, OR
Your date of birth and Voter Unique Identifier (the VUID is located on your voter registration certificate).
If your permanent address is out of state, you can also check your state's official voter search portal, which can be looked up using the National Association of Secretaries of State's website, Can I Vote?
Where do college students vote and what do they vote for?
Students can choose to either vote in their hometown county or the county where they attend college. However, you have to pick one! Which one depends on your investment in local elections (city, school district, county). If your permanent address is in another state, include state elections in that list. It might also come down to your ability to get back home to vote. If you want to vote back home, look carefully into the mail-in ballot option.
See your chosen county's sample ballots to be informed about who is running to represent you and what changes could be inacted this voting cycle. Be sure to seek answers if there's something or someone on the ballot you have questions about.

Register to vote
Visit Vote Texas for more information about voter registration. Don't delay, you can fill out an application online, but it must be submitted by mail, or in some Texas counties, the application may be accepted by the county voter registrar's office in person. Contact your local office for more information.
Monday, October 6, 2025, is the last day to register to vote.
If you plan to vote outside of Brazos county but still in Texas, check your local county elections office for details about where to cast your ballot. Alternatively, the Vote Texas site also has information about voting by mail (or absentee). Watch deadlines and track your ballot. The last day for a mail-in ballot to be received in Brazos County, for example, is Friday, October 24, 2025, at 5:00 pm.
To register to vote outside of the state of Texas, you'll want to follow your Secretary of State's absentee voting instructions and timelines specific to that state.
