Journal Clubs

Sharing Articles

Emailing or posting a PDF version of an article from a library database or ejournal might breach the TAMU Libraries' agreements with publishers. Instead, use permalinks to ensure that journal club participants are properly authenticated for access to articles.

Tips for Creating Article Permalinks:

  1. Look-up the PubMed ID (PMID) or Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for the article.

  2. Go to Libkey.io and enter the PMID or DOI.

  3. If the article is available, copy/paste the URL from the browser address bar (see below). This URL can be shared via email and other online platforms.

  4. If the article is not available, request it via GetItForMe or contact us via AskMSL.

  • Mendeley Private Groups
    • Free web or desktop app with premium features available for a fee.
    • Share articles with a private group of participants, who can highlight text and annotate articles.
    • Mendeley users with a free account can create up to 5 private groups, each accommodating up to 25 participants.
  • RefWorks
    • Web-based tool available to affiliated users and alumni of Texas A&M University.
    • Share references and full-text articles with participants.
    • Participants can read and annotate PDFs stored in a shared folder.
    • References can be organized into projects (with full editing permissions) or folders (limited permissions).

  • Zotero Groups
    • Free app with storage limits. Storage can be increased for a fee.
    • Create article libraries that can be shared with journal club participants.
    • Participants can access and annotate articles in the group library and share notes.
