PRISMA stands for Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses. These guidelines are designed to help authors transparently report why their systematic review was done, what methods they used, and what they found.
Covidence has a built-in PRISMA flow diagram generator. As you import references and select which database they came from, Covidence begins building the flow diagram with that information. As you progress through the screening process, include references or exclude references with reasons, Covidence adds to the flow diagram. When you are finished with the screening process, you can download the flow diagram as a Word document to be included in your publication.
A PRISMA flow diagram visually depicts the process of conducting a systematic review or meta-analysis, illustrating study selection and the reasons for exclusions. It aids both researchers and readers in understanding the methodology.
