Create Your Biosketch with SciENcv

Are you looking for help to create your NIH or NSF Biosketch? This step-by-step guide will walk you though what you need to know about SciENcv (the NSF - and NIH-approved system for creating biosketches).

Sign in to SciENcv and Create a CV

  1. Using your web browser, go to the SciENcv website and select your preferred log-in method.

    To use other log-in options, select "More Options", then select your preferred portal.

    To login with your NetID, select "more login options": scroll down or type "Texas" then select "Texas A&M University" to log in using your existing NetID credentials.Log in with NetID, find the TAMU portal

  2. You will be given the option to create a new MyNCBI account or link your google account to an existing MyNCBI account. 
    • If you do not already have a MyNCBI account:
      • Select “Create a new NCBI account”
      • Select the account you wish to use and log in; this will create a MyNCBI account with your email as the username and send a verification link to your email.
    • If you already have a MyNCBI account, select “Link to an existing NCBI account”


       
  3. Once logged in, you will be taken directly to your SciENcv page.  


     
  4. If you haven't used SciENcv before, click the "edit" link in the box to start your profile.  Enter your information, and link your ORCiD (see ORCiD resource in next section) and NSF ID if you prefer.


     
  5. If you have used SciENcv before, you will see links to biosketches you've already created.  


     
  6. Select “Create New Document”


     
  7. This Document wizard allows you to select which template (funding agency) CV to create, whether you want to fill out a blank form, edit a previously created CV, or link information from an external source.  It also gives you the option to make it shareable.  Help is also available via the NCBI website.


     
  8. View and edit the template. Editing an existing CV will open up this template. All entries are saved once you return to the form. Click the "My NCBI" or "SciENcv" link at the top left to return to your dashboard.
