Why Use Google Advanced?

Google Advanced allows users to refine their searches by using special commands and operators. With features like exact phrase matching, site-specific searches, language filters, date ranges, and file type preferences, users can find more accurate and relevant information. Domain-specific searches like .edu, .gov, or .org allow you to focus on content from educational institutions, government websites, or organizations.

Site and Domain Limiters

Google Advanced allows you to limit your search by site or domain.

Site

Some websites are bulky and difficult to navigate. When using Google Advanced, you can limit your search to a specific website to help you find what you need.

Domain

There are 3 regulated Internet domains:

  • .gov (Must be a body of the US government)
  • .edu (Educational institutions must apply for, and be granted, a .edu web address)
  • .mil (Reserved for the US Department of Defense, its subsidiaries, and affiliated organizations)

Limiting your search by domain will allow you to perform a search across all websites that fall within that domain.
