Podcasts

This is but a small sampling of Science Fiction and Fantasy podcasts, selected based on recommendations from the Reddit "SFF" community. I have not listened to these podcasts myself, and thus cannot attest to their quality or relevance for any particular research topic.

Book Geeks Uncompromised

  • "Weekly reviews of fantasy and/or science fiction books and discussion of recent bookish news."

Geek's Guide to the Galaxy

  • "Geek’s Guide to the Galaxy is a podcast that airs each week on Wired.com. The show is hosted by science fiction author David Barr Kirtley and produced by Lightspeed Magazine editor John Joseph Adams. Geek’s Guide to the Galaxy features conversations about fantasy & science fiction in books, movies, games, and comics, as well as related subjects such as science, history, and critical thinking."

Imaginary Worlds

  • "Imaginary Worlds is a bi-weekly podcast about science fiction and other fantasy genres. Fantasy worlds may be set in distant planets or parallel dimensions, but they are crafted here on Earth and on some level relate to our daily lives. I talk with novelists, filmmakers, comic book artists, game designers and other creators about the craft of making fictional worlds. We also look at the fan experience, exploring what makes us suspend our disbelief, and what happens when that spell is broken.

No Bad Ideas

  • "No Bad Ideas is a storytelling gameshow where we take the worst ideas from the Internet and try to turn them into stories that are actually good. It's the creation of Gabriel Urbina, Sarah Shachat, and Zach Valenti, three writer and artist-types who, in order to stay fresh creatively, have an excuse to hang out with each other once a week, and check in on what they're working on, take a terrible idea they found on the Internet each week and turn it into a compelling narrative. Or as close as they can get in 30 minutes."

What the SFF?!

  • "Incoming transmission! Welcome to What The SFF, a new podcast hosted by Angry Robot Books. Join our host, resident robot overlord Eleanor Teasdale, as she travels through the scifi-fantasy multiverse, picking up new authors and exciting guests, tackling the hottest topics in genre fiction, and discovering how to make the perfect cup of tea in space. So tune in each month for your sci-fi update! And we promise, we are the robots you’re looking for."
